Angela Leong graduated in 1987 from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Laws (second class upper honours) and was called to the Singapore Bar the following year. She has been a Singapore Registered Patent Agent since the patent profession was regulated in Singapore in 2002.

Angela has specialized in corporate and intellectual property law from the start of her legal career. In less than 3 years of her joining, she was appointed head of the Trade Marks & Patents Department of one of the few Singapore law firms that specialized in intellectual property at the time. After committing some years to full-time charity work, Angela joined the Singapore office of an international patent and trademarks firm and soon became its Trade Marks Partner. She now combines her corporate legal experience with her IP expertise to provide well-rounded counsel to her clients. Angela has vast experience advising on local and global IP protection strategies and prosecuting national, regional and international applications for registration. She is passionate about helping IP owners in commercialization and generating additional revenue streams through joint ventures, licensing and franchising.

Angela has served as Singapore counsel to many internationally renowned MNCs in the food and beverage, apparel, furniture and high-tech industries and is well-regarded by IP experts here and abroad. Yet, for small start-ups and SMEs, she would patiently introduce them to the world of IP and guide them in building their IP portfolio according to their budget constraints.

Angela speaks at international and regional IP and business conferences, and has taught and trained generations of IP practitioners. Angela is an active member of the International Trademark Association (INTA), currently serving as Singapore representative in the Asia Roundtables Committee. She has been a committee member of the Examination Committee for the Singapore Patent Agents Qualifying Examination and also serves as a member of the Domain Area Committee-IP involved in certification of IP consultants in Singapore. Over the years, Angela's expertise in trade marks has been recognised by her peers here and abroad including being listed as Expert in Trade Mark Law and named "IP Star" by Managing Intellectual Property in 2014 and 2015.
